Volunteer!

We would ask for people that feel the Murray Hill Theatre is good for Jacksonville to consider helping support the Theatre by contributing time or money towards the operation of the facility. The Theatre is operated by Murray Hill Ministries, Inc. a Florida not-for-profit organization. We are an independent, charitable organization that is not affiliated with any church or denomination. We are just a group of people who feel this is good for Jacksonville.

We believe that the Murray Hill Theatre can provide a positive influence in our deteriorating society. A lack of clean night spots, the deterioration of today's media both in music and in visual entertainment, the increasing violence of modern music and video, and the noticeable lack of God in the social lives of most people, all attest to the need for such a facility.

Murray Hill Ministries has three paid staff members and the rest of the staff is volunteer, including the officers and directors. We encourage all interested parties to come along side our efforts and help make the Murray Hill Theatre be a huge blessing for Jacksonville. We could really use additional qualified adult volunteers.

Please contact us at 904/388-3179 or email us at TheHill@usa.net if interested.

What do volunteers do?
This is a list of some tasks that volunteers perform:

  • They man the ticket booth / box office.

  • They work in the cafe making milkshakes, coffee drinks, and snacks.  They take orders, run the cash register, and fill soft drinks.

  • They take care of the traveling bands by feeding them, running errands with them, and selling their merchandise during shows.

  • They guard entrances making sure that everyone comes in is authorized to do so.

  • They sell music and other cutting edge items in The Rock.

  • They maintain the delicate balance between safety and friendliness.

  • They help prepare the facilities by moving furniture, cleaning, and taking out the trash.

  • They represent for The Hill off premises at compatible events by setting up informational booths and distributing flyers.

  • They seek opportunities to encourage people to draw near to God.  Sometimes this is spontaneous, sometimes it is a result of building relationships.

  • Build community service hours for future scholarships.

  • Just have good ole fashion fun!!!!

Required Qualifications for Potential Volunteers

  • Be a Christian who is pursuing God, as evidenced by involvement in a church, Bible Study, small group, etc.

  • Be at least 16 years old.

  • Completed application including a background check, three letters of reference, and a doctrinal agreement.

 Above & Beyond Award

Leona Foxworth

I and everyone at the MHT are very grateful for all the volunteers, past, present & future for taking their time out of their busy schedules to help out. When we come to the MHT to help, it's pretty much "a job" which has been emphasized more by training, organizing etc.  But since I've been here, I've noticed some of the volunteers going above and beyond what is "expected" of them. So in recognition of this an "Above & Beyond" Award was created and presented to Leona Foxworth for not only helping the MHT while the changes are going on, but stepping up at her church and here! Also, you've got to give props to someone who, when called at the last minute, ditches her friends at a sushi restaurant to help in the back of the cafe!!! And she does it with her Braced Face Smile & grace!! So Congratulations Leona!!! So if you know of any of the V-Squad that has gone "Above & Beyond" we want to know!!
