Our Mission and brief description:  Our mission is to provide a positive live music venue geared towards the youth and young adults of our community. We provide cutting edge faith-based performing arts events that include Christian entertainment and life changing ministry. The theatre is operated by Murray Hill Ministries, founded in 1995, and is a non-profit, 501( c ) 3 tax exempt volunteer driven, faith-based community service organization.

We are an alcohol-free, smoke free, all-ages night club that features live faith based music and we use music and the arts to present things of faith in a positive light. We provide an alternative to typical bars and nightclubs, giving people (young and old alike) a safe nightspot to enjoy live entertainment without drugs, alcohol or unruly behavior.

We have had a tremendous positive impact on the lives of hundreds of young adults, and also helped revitalize the Murray Hill neighborhood on Jacksonville's westside. We hope to provide spiritual renewal,  revival and encouragement to all who enter our doors.

Our Vision:  The vision of the Murray Hill Theatre is to provide live Christian entertainment every Friday and Saturday night in an alcohol-free and smoke-free nightclub atmosphere. We mostly provide live contemporary Christian music or Christian rock music. We also have swing dance nights and occasionally, plays, liturgical dance performances, comedy nights, video nights and open mic nights.

The theatre is fixed up nice and clean and has a state of the art sound and light system, and is a great place to hang out. Some events are geared towards a mature, adult audience while most events are geared towards older teens. Our target audience is the 16 to 30 year old, but all  teens are welcome to come (We are not geared towards pre-teens and ask an adult to accompany any one under 14 years of age who comes). We have a cafe that serves a variety of food and GREAT milkshakes. The cafe also has a small stage for acoustic artists  and has computers for internet access.

Murray Hill Theatre is operated by a volunteer driven, non-profit organization. Every weekend we provide live Christian entertainment with the goal of reaching out to those who have no understanding of the gospel as well as strengthening and encouraging those who know the Lord Jesus and desire to deepen their walk with Him. 

We believe it is important for Jacksonville to have an alternative to bars--a place where people can go any Friday or Saturday night for great Christian entertainment, and a place where you can invite un-churched friends to get a taste of Christian music, entertainment, and fellowship. 

We hope and pray that the theatre will be used by Christians as a place for one-on-one friendship evangelism, but we strive to make sure it is not a "religious" place or a place that would turn off non-Christians. We make it very warm, open, and inviting to all people regardless of religious belief or affiliation. It is our desire that the positive music and the one-on-one sharing of our beliefs and values in a loving way will draw people closer to Jesus Christ our Lord.

Come and support the local live Christian music scene here in Jacksonville. Once you come in, you can hang out in the cafe or use our computers to surf the internet for free. Or you can play pool in the auditorium while enjoying the main event or hang out in the lobby and play pinball or electronic games. Or  you could browse and shop in our music store  that sells CD's, tee shirts, stickers and more. Or you could hang out in the outdoor patio (weather and staff permitting).

We believe that the Murray Hill Theatre can provide a positive influence in our deteriorating society. A lack of clean night spots, the deterioration of today's media both in music and in visual entertainment, the increasing violence of modern music and video, and the noticeable lack of God in the social lives of most people, all attest to the need for such a facility. 

Murray Hill Ministries has three paid staff members and the rest of the staff is volunteer, including the officers and directors. We encourage all interested parties to come along side our efforts and help make the Murray Hill Theatre be a huge blessing for Jacksonville.
